The Central Coast of California has long attracted a pantheon of photographers—artists whose works are appreciated the world over. Wynn Bullock and his wife Edna, who became a fine art photographer after he died, are among this special group.
For many years, UC Santa Cruz has been collecting the transformative legacies of leading California photographers such as Ansel Adams, Edward Weston, Pirkle Jones, and Ruth Marion Baruch. The university would like to expand its holdings to include the Bullock Family Photography Archive, a major collection of Wynn’s and Edna’s work that has been assembled by their daughter Barbara Bullock-Wilson, a UCSC alumna and widely published scholar of her parents’ creative journeys.
Funding is needed for UCSC to acquire the archive so that this cultural treasure may be preserved and shared. Please join us in this fundraising effort and ensure that the Bullock family legacies can continue to inspire generations to come.
Thanks to the generosity of nearly 80 donors, including two matching gifts, we have successfully reached our minimum goal of $30,000 and UCSC’s acquisition of Wynn Bullock’s groundbreaking Color Light Abstraction Traveling Exhibition is secure. Additional funding will enable us to acquire key pieces of Wynn’s and Edna’s vintage black-and-white work. Help the university further expand its holdings of this important archive by donating today!
All donations are fully tax-deductible minus the value of any thank you gifts requested. Every donation will be acknowledged by a note of appreciation from Barbara Bullock-Wilson on a frameable card of one of her parent’s photographs, including an interesting backstory of the image.

For donations of $5,000 and above, the available gift is a limited edition, fine art contemporary print of the donor’s choice of an Edna or Wynn image (9x12 print mounted and over-matted with an estate authorized identification label and Letter of Authentication signed by Barbara Bullock-Wilson; value $400 for an Edna print, $500 for a Wynn print).
