We are Formula Slug, a dedicated group of over 140 UC Santa Cruz student engineers, mathematicians, computer programmers, and business majors committed to building both an effective team and a high-performance electric vehicle.
Our members are personally invested in this project - with many working more than twenty hours a week to ensure this car is completed and that the team grows and matures along the way. We’re not just representing the school and our team; we’re designing the future of transportation.
Our purpose is two-fold:
Formula Slug hopes to become the premier organization for granting ambitious, talented students the hands-on engineering and management experience that will form the foundation of their educations and careers. The students lead, design, and build the project themselves, and in doing so, develop the crucial analytical and independent problem-solving skills that are difficult to cultivate within the classroom. Additionally, our university does not have a mechanical engineering department; thus, Formula Slug is an invaluable opportunity for individuals seeking engineering-based careers.
Designing and building prototype electric vehicles is expensive. The $20,000 will allow our team to purchase and manufacture the car’s chassis, battery pack, drivetrain, suspension, and aerodynamics. If we raise more than $20,000, we will be able to invest the funds into additional hands-on engineering projects as well!

For a $15 donation, you will receive a personalized thank you email from a team member detailing the current activities of our club and that specific team.
You will be invited to view our lab space and to come to one of our Friday meetings. The team would like to thank you for your donation. For $50, you are invited to attend our general meeting and have a tour of our lab space and see everything that your support has gone towards.

You will get one of our amazing sponsor shirts that have the Formula Slug logo on it. Once CrowdFunding ends we will email you about size and you will have one of our shirts to show off to all your friends and family.
You will get a signed photo of the team, business cards, stickers, information pamphlet, and every level below this perk.
Your signature or logo will be placed on the car's body paneling to be displayed at competition. Signing of the body panels has a later delivery date than other perks. This level includes all perks below.
You are invited to come to a testing day and take your photo with the team. The invitation for the testing day will go out sometime in May. This includes all perks below this level.
