Thirty years ago, a group of visionary UCSC alumni saw that student financial needs were growing and jumped at the opportunity to help. They established the Alumni Association Scholarship Fund to make a direct and lasting difference for UCSC students. Since 1991, over $1.86 million has been distributed and 788 scholarships awarded.
The financial needs of students have increased exponentially since the Alumni Association Scholarship Fund was established—our help is needed now more than ever. Your gift will support high-achieving students who are working hard to earn their degree while navigating financial hardship. Students who maintain a good academic standing continue to receive this $3,000 annual scholarship until they graduate.

Alumni making a difference!
Give. Support. Celebrate.
The Alumni Council created the Eric Thomas Memorial Award in 2004, in memory of Eric Thomas, a beloved former UCSC Alumni Association President. Eric offered a helping hand to whoever needed one. He was a leader who embraced and symbolized what we believe are two key takeaways from our UCSC experience: making the world a better place one small act at a time, and having a good time doing it. Gifts made to the scholarship fund in memory of Eric Thomas keep his legacy alive. Each year, one scholarship recipient who best reflects Eric's spirit, receives the Eric Thomas Memorial Award.
